Milagro Spanish Restaurant is tucked away in a corner on the 8th floor of Orchard Central, just opposite 49 Seats. We initially intended to dine at Kilo at Pact but dismally found out that they are closed on Mondays! Spanish it was then.

All the dishes we had came recommended by our server. Honestly, the only ones we really liked were the tapas – the octopus had a nice bite, dressed liberally with olive oil, and paprika dust giving it a subtle smokiness. The cauliflower we loved, bite-sized florets dredged in a smokey-spicy flour mixture before being deep fried. Wisps of steam danced out from each deep-fried casing.

We shared the braised beef cheek and iberico pork for our mains. The former was suitably rich, becoming overwhelmingly so towards the end, but the beef was fork tender and the sauce flavourful, if a little oily. Self-service bread is available near the entrance for you to mop up extra bits of the red wine sauce. The iberico pork tasted incredibly gamey, and was tough to cut at some points. I think the best bits were the ends, which came slightly crispy and nicely charred.

The tapas here is quite affordable, and the mains are covered by The Entertainer App. Portions are generous and can be shared with a couple of friends. Still, I’d only likely return for the cauliflower, until I learn to do it myself!
