Caught up with an old friend over lunch at 2-star The Ledbury in Notting Hill, London. Most impressed by the salad and amuse bouches – great flavour and texture all around. Beef short rib was nicely seared, though the crisp exterior gave way to a buttery, stringy interior that screams sous-vide. Paired quite well with the onions and raw mushrooms. The meal ended with a lovely treat of cornflake coated yuzu ice cream and slim cannoli-like petit fours filled with salted caramel. Quite a treat, and overall a rather filling lunch (£50/4 courses). Reservations recommended.
